Training Week 3 + I'm A Zombie Killer

I'm sitting here wondering why first grade homework makes me want to murder bunnies, and I realized I forgot to post my training for last week! I kept to my training schedule pretty well, and I'm really pleased with my progress so far! I still have a long way to go in my training, and something I need to focus on is not pushing TOO hard. I so want to PR this half (which really should happen), but I've secretly had another goal that I can't get out of my head. I'm just going to keep that a secret for a little longer because I'm no where ready for it yet, and I definitely haven't thought it through enough.

Monday: 

The training schedule had me doing 3 miles, but I'm finding this unrealistic after how crazy Mondays are at work. Unless I can wake up early and do it before work (ha), this is likely to remain a 1 mile day. So I did 1 mile at 10:00 pace on the treadmill.

Tuesday:

I had hill repeats on the schedule for today, but due to a race I was running on Sunday known as The Beast because of the hills and switchbacks, I decided to skip hill repeats in favor of an easy 3 mile run at 9:43 pace.

Wednesday:

Today was another easy 3 miles at 9:51 pace. I didn't get out there until late, and my legs felt like lead, so I was super pumped that I was able to push through instead of cutting it short.

Thursday:

Rest day! So 1 treadmill mile at 10:00 pace.

Friday:

The thing about half marathon training is there are a lot of short days. I'm so not used to this since I've been marathon training for the last 74 years. Another 3 miles at 9:39 pace!

Saturday:

I finally quit putting off my tempo run! I decided to take this run out of my neighborhood and I enjoyed a change in scenery. The plan called for a 30 minute tempo, so I warmed up for 5 minutes and then hit my tempo pace for 3.51 miles at 9:02 pace and cooled down for a mile. So, a total of 4.51 miles for the day.

Sunday:

Today was the first 10 miler of the Road Race Series that I've been running. I knew better than to race this so I decided to use this as a long run, even though my plan had this as a cut back week in terms of long runs. Nonetheless, I'm happy with how I did on this tough course with 10 miles at 10:44 pace.

So if you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen the totally awesome race picture that I posted yesterday. I'm pretty obsessed with it, and so excited to have finally taken a good race picture. But then, the coolest Instagram dude ever, Carlos The Runner, took it to the next level. If you aren't familiar with Carlos The Runner, he happens to make the coolest edits of people's running pictures, and for some reason he chose mine yesterday. Seriously, check out his feed for some amazing edits. Okay, behold his masterpiece that I am so in love with, I think I want to marry it and have teeny tiny instagram picture babies with it:

Y'all.  He made me a zombie killer. Check out how badass I am, with blood on my Oiselle singlet and a chopped off zombie head next to me. I am beyond honored.
