Maybe I should change the name of my blog to I only blog about my weekends blog. It seems appropriate. I thought about skipping this week, but I love linking up with my girl Tara at Running 'N' Reading so here I am. Thanks for providing a place for me put my words, T.
My Friday started out with a 20 mile run with Debi. We completely dominated this run. Since we've been running together, this was our 5th 20 miler and it was our fastest. We saw 12 deer, a blue jay, a flying squirrel, a chipmunk, and a vulture. Not to mention a million dogs and some unruly teenagers.
I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned it, but deer are our spirit animals. Any time we see them on a run, it's good luck.
Having twins, it's rare to spend time alone with just one of the girls. Friday afternoon I got a chance to get some one on one time with Lexi, while Lyla got to hang out with Josh. When we do this, I'm always reminded how sweet it is to be alone with my little love bugs.
Later on that night, we decided to visit the local Growler shop again for a refill. We're kind of in love with that place! I decided to try Sweetwater Blue which was amazing. It had the slightest hint of blueberries which was great. Josh tried a Rogue Hazelnut that tasted like coffee. I love getting to try different beers.
Saturday morning I woke up to this view:
My legs were kind of tight and sore from my 20 miles the day before so I knew I wanted to get out to shake them out. I had slept in my Pro Compression socks to help with recovery, but I still decided to throw those legs up the wall for a little stretch before I ran.
When I first started my run my legs hurt so bad! It felt like post-marathon legs. However, they loosened up quickly so I decided to throw in some pick ups to test out my new Mizuno Wave Hitogami 2's. I am so happy with these shoes. They feel so light but supportive, not like those scary minimal shoes that people get hurt in.
The girls went to see Sponge Bob with Josh's parents so the hubs and I went for lunch at Mellow Mushroom. I wasn't feeling pizza so I got a small Greek Salad and a half Avocado sandwich. They were SO GOOD.
Later that night, Lexi and Lyla and I headed to a girls night with a bunch of my runner friends to celebrate Fellow Flowers' Declare It Day. Debi is a part of their Crew so I was so excited to be able to support her, plus I love Fellow Flowers. I got to meet their founders at the St. Jude expo and they are so sweet. The goal that I declared was that I will PR my marathon this year. I know can do it. I just have to keep the pukes away.
Sunday morning I took the girls to Hebrew School and had a little alone time at Starbucks. It was good that I got that hour because the rest of my day was a whirlwind.
We went to Target to get birthday presents for a party the girls had later that afternoon. That and toilet paper, dog food, and paper towels. I don't know how but I ended up with an overflowing cart. The girls really needed those new backpacks and lunch bags, I swear. And how could I pass this up:
Um....can you freeze avocados because that's the best deal ever.
The girls had a blast at their friend's birthday party but I'm not going to post any pictures of that because I don't want to get sued for posting random 6 year olds on the webz. People are weird like that.
I don't have any problems posting my kids pictures so I have to share this beauty. Lexi. That girl. Where she comes up with this stuff I'll never know.
My weekend ended with me scratching my head at Sia's performance from the Grammy's. I wish I had realized at the time that that was Kristin Wiig. I might have liked it a little better.
I think that's about it. Tell me about your weekend!
Did you watch the Grammy's?
Did you race?
