Oiselle Wednesday: Lori Shorts

I might be a member of The Oiselle Flock, but I've been wearing Oiselle (pronounced Wa-Zelle) for several years now. Oiselle is a company with a mission I believe in, and running clothes that help me believe in myself. Oiselle Wednesday is a day for reviewing my favorite running fashions and showing you the fit on a 5'7, 130 pound Mommy-body!

Recently, Oiselle brought back one of the first styles of shorts I ever bought from them:  The Lori Shorts.  Because these are an old favorite of mine, I thought I'd review my "vintage" pair since it appears as though the style has not changed (although this color is not available). Also, Oiselle has a great behind the scenes story on the shorts for your reading pleasure here

The Lori shorts are very similar to the Distance Shorts that I reviewed a few weeks ago.  They are both made of the same soft material that is oh-so wicking.  The waist bands are also similar although the Lori shorts have a slightly wider band which increases the comfort level in my opinion.

The Lori shorts also have the same shape as the Distance shorts in that they are longer in the front and shorter on the sides.  As I mentioned previously, I think this really helps those with chafing issues.  I also believe it is a very flattering look for those with muscular thighs! They also have the same side zipper pocket that the Distance shorts have.  Remember, this is an actual pocket.  You can really put useful stuff in it!

Another reason why I love all Oiselle shorts, is that there is no diaper butt.  The Lori shorts let my bootie shine and I feel confident in the degree of backside coverage that they provide. The liner is lightweight and completely comfortable while running. One other thing to point out about the backside...the Lori Shorts do not have the back zipper pocket that the Distance Shorts have.

Let's chat about sizing.  Being that these are a few years old, they are the old sizing, in which I wore a medium.  If/when I get a pair of the new Lori shorts, I would probably get a 6 which equates to a smaller medium.  I could totally size up to an 8 as well if I wanted a looser fit like I prefer in the Rogas.  According to the Oiselle website, the Lori Shorts are about a half inch LONGER than the Distance Shorts.  I feel like my vintage pair are a little shorter than my Distance shorts, but that might be due to excessive washing, because hello...these were a mainstay of my running wardrobe for a long time.

The Lori Shorts are priced at $44 which is the same cost as the Distance Shorts.  Don't even ask me to choose between Lori and Distance...that's like asking me to choose between Lexi and Lyla.  I just can't do it.  I think it would come down to your color preference since they come in different colors!  Either way, you are guaranteed a comfortable short for long runs or short runs, and everything in between!

One more thing...these shorts are 3 years old.  I know because of Time Hop.  It's a testament to the quality of Oiselle clothes in that they are still in perfect shape.  In fact, I still have every piece from Oiselle that I have ever ordered.  There is absolutely no wear or tear in them.  And that's a fact.
