Weekend Update .: 6 :.

It's been a while since I've done a Weekend Update with my friend Tara at Running 'N' Reading. It's not like I forgot she has this totally cool link-up where you can see what other people are up to, it's just that I've been too lazy to blog more than twice a week lately. But I just drank a Monster and now I'm ready to overshare every facet of my life.  Let's do this.

Since I'm off on Fridays, I always include that as part of my weekend.  It's only fair since I worked 24 hours over the course of Wednesday and Thursday.  We ended up going to swim at Jana's house because it was super hot.  Her little girl, Ryan, is so sweet to Lexi and Lyla, and the girls had a great time swimming together. My kids have also asked every day since then when they can go back.

The girls spent the night at Grandma and Papa's, which meant Josh and I got to head to our favorite adult spot, The Skybox Grill.  Yes, this is the same place that I took Tara last weekend when she was in town.  We just really love it.  The food is always on point, and they have a great list of craft beer, including my personal favorite: Wiseacre Ananda. Speaking of beer, I've been thinking of adding a weekly post to review some of my favorite beers.  Because runners love beer, am I right?

Saturday was a beautiful day for sleeping in. I wish I didn't love to sleep late, but I do. I thought adults were supposed to wake up early? Am I missing that gene? Anyway, the girls went to a carnival with Bubbie and Zayde, so I headed across town to pick up my packet for the Navy 10 Nautical Mile Race that I was running on Sunday. I was so excited to see my friend Danielle, the brains behind the Runningluv! I haven't seen her since Little Rock, so I loved getting to hang out with her for a bit.  I just love seeing her business booming!

The girls got home and we hung for a bit, and then I headed to run a few errands and pick up some pizza for us for dinner. Have y'all seen the new mini frappucinos from Starbucks? I love the espresso frappucino, but I don't love all the calories, so this new mini size is perfect! Also, it's just so cute.  I don't know how a cup can be cute, but it just is.

Since the my race started at 6 am, I needed to wake up at about 4 am to get ready and get there.  Unfortunately, my body had no plan to go to bed early so I probably got around 3 and a half hours of sleep.  Maybe this was a good thing though since I woke up super easily.  I probably never got into my REM cycle! I plan on recapping this race this week, so I'm not going to go into much detail here.

I'll just say, I was slow as ballz, but I had a great time.  I talked to people, thanked every military person I saw, and didn't puke.  Huge wins.  The rest of the day was spent relaxing with the family and catching up on laundry.  We got chicken wings and donuts for dinner and it was a pretty fantastic ending to a great weekend. By the way, I don't have a picture of it, but my kids eating chicken wings is probably the cutest thing ever. Just try and imagine it, ok?
