2013 Goals

So when it comes to goal making, I tend to get crazy with it.  I know all about SMART goals thanks to being a pharmacy manager:

I really believe the method is an effective way to make goals for yourself and so in planning my 2013 goals, I kept this in mind.  Without further ado, here are my goals for the new year:

Yep, 1000 miles.  I will run 1000 miles in 2013.  It averages out to about 20 miles a week and I think this is doable.  I signed up for Daily Mile so feel free to follow me on there.  I'll also be adding the widget to the blog so you can watch my miles pile up!

2.  Sub 30 5k...I actually came close to this goal last weekend.  Off by 41 seconds so I feel pretty confident that I will be able to do it this year.

3.  Sub 2:30 half...This was my original time goal for St. Jude but unfortunately I came no where near hitting that do to the unfortunate puke incident.  RunKeeper has a cool program to help you reach specific time goals and I've been using that while training for my next half, the Mississippi River Half marathon.  I can feel myself getting stronger so I'm hopeful that I can reach this goal.


I have a problem with the snooze button.  I will press it repeatedly for an hour straight.  It's ridiculous.  There are some days where I need to wake up extra early to squeeze in a workout, and my goal is to quit hitting snooze.  I need to just get up and DO IT!

5.  Pay It Forward...I want to do at least one good deed per week, whether it's paying for the coffee for the person behind me in line at Starbucks, or helping a stranger in the grocery store.  Random acts of kindness can really change a person's day and I want to strive to be a positive force in people's lives.  I might not document these acts on the blog, simply because I'm not looking for recognition.  I just want to make someone smile.

6.  Be a Better Blogger...I would like to get MommiesRun out there more.  I want to update the layout and make it a little snazzier.  I will comment on blogs I read daily and keep up on my blog reading and writing better.  I enjoy reading and communicating with other bloggers and I want to become more of a presence in the blogging community.

That's it.  I tried not to go overboard because missing goals is a huge let down for me.  I really feel as though these are reasonable goals.  But I will need help, so keep me honest!  I hope you all have a wonderful new year, and that all of your goals are met!
