Aldi Still Gives Me the Creeps {CONTEST CLOSED}

Yesterday I asked y'all for your thoughts on Aldi, the store known for it's inexpensive yet fresh produce.  Janell @ Girls Run the 901 gave me the confidence to go there today.  She gave me some expert advice and told me to bring a quarter for my cart and bags for my groceries.  Done and Done.


Really not that creepy looking, right?  I didn't take any pictures on the inside but I just couldn't shake the creeps.  Lexi and Lyla didn't seem to mind though, as they tried to fill my cart with candy and random branded snacks.  We made our way to the produce and I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and prices.  Um, 85 cents for an avocado?  Yes please.  Bags of apples for $2.99?  I'll take 2.  Here's our haul:


2 cucumbers
3 avocados
bag of radishes
blueberries
2 containers of grape tomatoes
mango
2 containers of strawberries
2 bags of apples
2 bags of asparagus
1 bag of sweet potatoes

I'll send a tube of Nuun to whoever can guess how much that cost. (Closest without going over)

After that we headed over to Target to finish up our shopping.  The only extra produce I needed to buy there was spinach leaves.  How about that?  We still managed to spend a crap load, but that's Target for ya.  Of course I had to treat my homegirls to some Icees and popcorn.



When we got home I decided to do the daily task that is part of the #VegChallenge:  Making a green monster smoothie.  Here is the recipe that Jill recommends:


7-Day Vegetarian Challenge

I followed her recipe mostly except I skipped the protein powder because I had had a protein shake in the morning.  I also used flax seeds instead of chia seeds because my chia seeds have gone MIA.  For real.

We all approved!  It was delicious.  I recommend letting your bananas ripen, then peel them and place them in a ziploc baggie in the freezer.  I like to always have some on hand!


I drank a lot today.  I woke up late so I had a protein shake for breakfast.  I powered my way through Aldi with some watermelon Nuun (OMG).  How could I pass up a Starbucks without getting my regular:  Iced coffee with soy milk and sugar free Cinnamon Dolce?  And for dinner we had pizza and a salad on the side.  

It wasn't the best eating day but I hydrated well ;-) This is a good thing because I'm running a half this weekend.  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that.  

OK, For realz.
