Wow.  What an embarassing first week of marathon training.  I missed not one, not two, but THREE runs.  I'm feeling really lucky at this point that I had built up a good base within the last few months.  Someone needs to kick my butt into gear.  Anybody?

The good thing about my missed runs is that my left leg really had a chance to get in some healing I think.  I've battled my IT band and hip flexor for a while and this week was the first week in a LONG time that I didn't feel myself hobbling.  Score.

Here's what I did manage for the week:

Monday:  30 minute sprint on the elliptical plus a little interval training that I made up:

My core was sore for a few days after this so I highly recommend it!  I hope to make up more of these as training goes on.  I also had some good company while I was on the elliptical:


Oh yeah, I love me some Full House.  I also had this little buddy next to me on the treadmill while I worked it on the elliptical:


Tuesday:  3 mile run.  I ran this "Naked", as in without my Garmin.  I haven't done that in a long time and I really needed it.  I have no idea what my pace was, and I really don't care.  It was good run and I felt strong!  Of course, I was running for my buddy, Jordan.  


Wednesday:  Skipped run day 1.

Thursday:  Scheduled rest day.

Friday:  Skipped run day 2.

Saturday:  8 mile long run...DONE!  I met up with the St. Jude training group at Shelby Farms.  I rode with my MRTT buddy, Kaci, and we got in an extra 1.6 miles before the schedule 6 mile run.  We also met up with Debi from Girls Run The 901!  I was so excited to finally meet her!  She is as sweet as can be and a great motivator.  Hopefully we'll get some more runs in together!  The run was really hard due to the extreme heat and humidity.  Luckily I had brought my CamelBak so I was able to stay hydrated.  One good thing out of this run was, even though I ran it slow, I felt really strong at the end.  Like I could have kept running.  This makes me happy :-)

Sunday:  Skipped run day 3, and a skipped race in the MRTC road race series.  Let's just say I was having some stomach issues from a weekend of fun eating.
