Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I talk all things running, food, and kids! Join my healthy living adventure, and enjoy life!

A Very Special MommiesRun.

Just kidding.  I'm tired of deep and sad.  It's time to lively up ourselves!

After taking some time off for a mope-fest, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things.  My training didn't quite get back on track this week, but sometimes being a Mommy comes first.  Well, actually all of the time it comes first.  Best.Job.Ever.

I know everyone thinks their kids are cute, but are your kids cute AND able to fit themselves into very tiny boxes?  Yeah, I won that one b*tches.

I'm taking cross-training a little more seriously on this thrown-together training cycle.  I noticed that all of my aches and pains started after I kind of quit cross training.  Thus, I will be incorporating the boring elliptical into my weekly workouts.  I can take advantage of that time to catch up on my blog reading!

Does your local Chick Fil-A have kids night?  Mine does and it is pretty awesome.  They have a craft for the kids to do, plus kids eat free.  Lexi and Lyla love going to play with their "friends",that is, kids that they meet for the first time and then become best friends forever.  I get to talk to other Mommies and enjoy watching the kids have a great time.  If you are in the area and want to join us sometime, let me know!  It's on Tuesdays from 5-8 pm.

My pharmacy is being remodeled and we have had some overnight shifts so that the construction guys can get stuff done without interfering with business.  The overnight shift did not get covered on Thursday night so I ended up staying until midnight after my normal twelve hour shift.  I didn't mind it though, because my sweet little family brought me dinner and we enjoyed a little family picnic, pharmacy style.

I had a Starbucks date on Friday with my two best girls.  They love the hot cocoa, and I love spending the time with them.  I was kind of amazed at their ability to actually be quiet in there.  Maybe it was because they were stuffing their faces with oatmeal cookies.

Josh and I had dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant on Friday night.  Their chicken tortilla soup is the best soup in the history of soups.

Bonus points if you know the movie.

I finally laced up my Mizunos and hit the roads on Saturday.  I got in a great 5 miles and found myself really feeling at peace with the whole marathon situation.  My legs felt ready to run and my heart felt happy.  I wish I could describe how low I had been feeling since the marathon cancellation.  It was a feeling I never want to feel again.  I know "it's just a race".  But it was more than a race to me.   After my run on Saturday though, I feel like I can finally say I'm back and better.

I ended up skipping my planned long run today because my Mommy job came calling in the form of a weepy 5 year old named Lyla.  There's nothing more heart breaking than hearing your little one crying over the phone that she misses you.

But...

Running that is...

I've been trying to figure out a way to make one of those fancy table thing-a-ma-jigs to post my new training schedule for Rock n Roll NOLA.  Sadly, I haven't figured that out yet, and I'm too embarrassed to ask DaddiesRun.  So here's this weeks plan:

Monday:  Rest
Tuesday:  5 miles
Wednesday:  Cross train
Thursday:  Strength
Friday:  8 miles
Saturday:  16 miles
Sunday:  5 miles

What is your favorite soup?

Favorite way to cross-train?

Are you computer savvy?
