Welcome to my blog. I talk all things running, food, and kids! Join my healthy living adventure, and enjoy life!

I briefly mentioned my super big goal for 2014 in my last post and I promised I'd talk about it in depth soon.  Well soon has arrived my friends, and it's time to make this real.

My running family started when I joined an amazing group of runners called RUN365.  This group contains all sorts of runners with all sorts of goals, but with one common theme:  We all love to run.  The motivation and inspiration that I've received from this group has been nothing short of perfection.  I love knowing that I will never be alone at a local race, and chances are, if I traveled, I'd find a RUN365 team member there too.  We truly are a family bonded by the simple act of running.  And this group is open to anyone who loves running and inspiring each other to be the best we can be.

The founder of RUN365, Scott, is one of those people that has never met a stranger.  He truly has a heart of gold and is supportive of every runner he comes across.  It also just so happens that he will be marrying my good friend Jana in less than 2 months!  I witnessed Scott complete a run streak of 365 days in 2013 and I was humbled and inspired.  He ran this streak while running like 12 million marathons, including back to back marathons.  Oh and helping our RUN365 team raise $21,500 for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Well, back when it was beginning to look like my big marathon would be cancelled, I boldly proclaimed on our Facebook page that I would do a 365 day run streak if it was indeed cancelled.  You know how the story unfolds....my race was cancelled.

I don't like to make bold proclamations without delivering.  And luckily I have dragged a bunch of people along with me on this ride.  To date, we have SIXTY other runners who are streaking their way through 2014.

So why #HeroesRun365?  When a runner raises money for St. Jude, they are termed a "St. Jude Hero".  I guess they think we are heroes for the kids at St. Jude, even though everyone knows the kids are the real heroes.  We came up with this hashtag to follow each other and to remember that running at least a mile a day is much easier than fighting cancer.

My plan is to raise as much money for St. Jude as possible once registration for the 2014 St. Jude Marathon opens.  I'd like to at least match how many miles in dollars I will have run by the time the donation portion closes.  So if I run 1000 miles, I want to at least raise 1000 dollars.

Of course I'll be asking for donations when the time comes.  No amount will ever be too small.  If you'd like to join in the fun, let me know!  I know you love your rest day(s), but I also know that if you're anything like me, you're thinking about running even on your rest day.

One mile is nothing.

  Nothing like fighting cancer.

If you'd like to join RUN365, please go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/run365/ and request to join.  Just tell them that MommiesRun sent you.  There are no membership fees, no prerequisites to joining.  Just a passion for running and inspiring each other.
